Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret

Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret

I finished this book about two weeks ago. I was planning to write one of my book reviews but I got lazy.

This is the first Christian biography I’ve ever read and I honestly think it’s one of the most amazing bios i’ve read ever. Hudson Taylor was one of the most prominent missionaries into China. This man’s life is like no other. What he did is no small thing, but that’s no comparison to his love and relationship with Christ. He suffered through so much for God’s glory. He lost two kids and two wives on the mission field to say the least. He did not stop even when he was about to die. He lived a life in which his life acted out the words “To live is Christ and to die is gain.”

I would quote some stuff but when i started reading i underlined everything to the point where I just gave up. That’s how good it is.

I’m just going to give you his secret cuz there’s no need to hide it: ABIDE IN CHRIST

Easier said than done. I still have no idea how this truly works out practically to be very honest with you. I’m always praying for this.

Get the book or ask me for it. It’s a short and very good read. You will benefit greatly from it. And there’s much more to learn from this man than just his three word secret.

I also recommend “In the Shadow of the Almighty” by Elisabeth Elliot and “Ten Sacks of Rice” by Penelope Dale (though the latter is a very very very short and easy read). Jesus Freaks by DC Talk is also another good read that I grew up with but be careful that you don’t replace God’s patience with passion!

William, all the best with your studies. Considering that it took these missionaries approx seven months by ship from England to get to China…..can we imagine the depth of their sacrifice and the earnestness of their commitment. Had to study this book to do my Bachelor’s in Missions. Do pray for me. My desire is to learn oral language at least and take Gospel to China and encourage underground Churches there.
