Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. – Acts 4:13
Sometimes I read passages in Acts and I’m like, what the junk, how come this doesn’t happen here and now? Peter and John had one thing going for them, and it was their boldness! They were bold in their actions, proclaiming the truth of the gospel of the love of God. They were bold in showing their love for the people around them. They were bold in the way they spoke with authority about what they have witnessed in their life. They were bold even before the court who accused them. The court saw the boldness, and knew that they were uneducated and common men, and were what? THEY WERE ASTONISHED!
We go to a freaking Ivy League school, though the ratings have been going down lately, compared to the rest of the world, we’re still at the freaking top. We are educated with the best education, and we will not end up as common men. But you know what, even though the smarty pants Christians on this campus claim to have “Christ” and the “Holy Spirit” in them, people are NOT ASTONISHED!
Right it says that they were astonished, it states that they recognized that they had been with Jesus. They recognized this from their boldness! What does that say about us? People are definitely not astonished by the Christians on this campus, SO HOW DO WE EXPECT THEM TO RECOGNIZE THAT WE HAVE JESUS LIVING IN US? THAT’S EXPONENTIALLY CRAZIER COMPARED TO JUST KNOWING HIM! HOW’RE WE GOING TO EXPLAIN THAT ONE?
