The Perfect Date

Okay, so Iris Lam asked me if she could suggest the next topic for my blog and i said sure, I’m bored, I need something to write about anyways, since all i’ve got lined up are rap songs :]

What would you say is the perfect date?

So that’s the question, when she first told me the question i was like wow, good one, i honestly never thought of it. The more I thought about it, the more i realized why i never thought about it, because dates arent really for dudes. Dates are for girls. Guys go on dates with girls to get to know them, spend some time with them, and try to show them who they are outside of class and not around friends without having the girl throwup. That’s the hope, to not have the girl barf on the guy out of disgust by the end of this thing.

To be honest with you guys, I’ve been a sleezeball about this stuff. I’ve honestly really never been intentional with girls in the past, friends have categorized me as the Christian nice guy/player. Though I am not a player by today’s standards of movies and music videos pimping 4-10 girls, but to my own current standards, I’m a sleezeball. Hopefully I’ve matured a certain amount since high school. I’ve always been afraid of relationships to a certain degree because I liked being able to spend time with different girls and get to know them without suffering the consequences or taking any responsibility. Now you can say that there was nothing wrong with what I was doing, going to watch movies, going to places, eating dinner with just one girl, without calling it dating, but I would call it a sleezy move haha. I’m really calling myself out on what i did here. In today’s world, we’re basically allowing anything, especially with guys getting close to girls who have no real desire to be in a true relationship. What i’m saying is, we guys need to grow some balls, and seeing a lot of the guys around me, sometimes I’m doubtful, maybe a checkup is needed.

Anyways, perfect date. i think there are several types of dates, the one before you get married and the ones after you’re married. I would love to be in a marriage where i’d be able to go on a date with my wife like every week or every other week, and if i have daughters one day, to be able to go on daddy dates with them you know? but that’s a little ahead. Then there’s the date before i get married and that’s the one i think this question is really aiming at.

THE PERFECT DATE IS WHERE I BRING THE RING

Any date with the girl of my dreams is a perfect date. Just getting the chance to spend time with her and doing stuff together is awesome. And like I said, dates aren’t for dudes, its really for girls. I honestly have no ideal date, cuz I dont care what I do on a date, even if it’s embarrassing or something I hate, if it’s with the girl of my dreams, it’s all good and perfect to me. And that’s really what makes the perfect date, not the stuff we do, but the date as in the person I’m with.

But if we’re going to be loserish and talk about stuff I’d like to do on a date, that just makes me look more like a loser cuz then it’s about me and not about her, and I want it to be all about her. The whole point of me asking her out is to get to know her so if we’re just hanging out and doing stuff i like, I could have just called up a bunch of friends and do it with them, na mean? lol.

other than that stuff, if people wanna know what i’d like to do, I’ll tell ya, but ideally we’re doing what she likes. I love nature and doing things proactively. I also like chilling on the grass, on a porch, just chatting too. I love sunrises, I would love to wake up early and go see the sun rise together and talk about how freaking awesome God is for making that and giving us the opportunity to experience it everyday. i would love to have a breakfast or lunch on a beach or something. or just awesome breakfast period and just chat. maybe go hiking, and experience nature’s beauty ya know? i also like musuems and stuff like that, or going to carnivals. i would love to go bungee jumping off a bridge or parachute out of a plane with my date. i would love to go swimming in an amazon river or go exploring the jungle together. rofl. or go skiing or snowboarding. walking through the park.

But really, i would love to spend time talking about how God’s working in her life, where she thinks God’s calling her, what she’s doing for the Lord, knowing her more. This would be sprinkled throughout the day, through lunch and just walking around and chilling. or just screaming “God’s Awesome!” while flying out of an airplane.

End the day with me cooking for her, praying together, reading the bible together, and ASKING HER TO MARRY ME. PERFECT DATE.

I dont know about you guys, but I am perfectly fine having just one date before a proposal. but the question of whether or not God has brought me to a point right now where I can enter a Godly relationship is another thing altogether. I’m still praying about strengthening my own relationship with Him first. Because I want both of us to love God so much more than we do each other, because humans fail, a lot. I’m also praying, almost daily, for my future wife. For her purity, for her calling, for her family, for her relationship with God.
