Need

This is a music video that speaks to some truth in life and especially even in all of humankind. This truth is that we have a need in life and we try to fill it with anything we can get our hands on. The bad thing about the song, probably aside from the profanity, is that he doesn’t provide any solution but just expresses that there is a problem.

As believers, we realize that there is a need, a hole to say, that God has placed on the hearts of man. God has placed a desire for eternity and for Himself in our hearts.

What gain has the worker from his toil? I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.

So with that Solomon shares how humans can toil for the things of earth and get caught up in it, but we are called to eternity with God. We need to stop all that we’re doing and realize that God is what we actually need and He has provided a way for us to be satisfied in Him and that’s through Jesus Christ. God calls us to just be still and know Him. Are you being still in your life and knowing the God who created, loves, and wants to be in relationship with you?

“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
