Family, Heaven edition

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV)

Everytime I come to my mom’s place, I always learn something about myself. As I’ve told some people before, it’s more powerful spending a couple of days here than to go to any conference for a couple of days. God reveals to me my true self and always gives me a serious reality check. The first thing people would do if they stayed with my mom for a couple of days would be to start worrying. You would then get stressed out. There would be several reasons you could get stressed, each person can pick their own, there’s enough to go around. But then God hits you in the heart and asks you, “Why are you even worrying?”

Then I realize, in my mom’s life it’s seriously evident that Jesus is the husband and father of this family and that there’s nothing to worry about, and my mom knows that. She has no need to worry and takes Jesus’s words literally, especially when it says to take your life day by day, because you never know what will happen tomorrow. My true worrying self comes out almost every time I come here and I just want to try to fix things up, but God always hits me on the head and tells me, there’s nothing to fix. I am the God of this family and things are just the way they’re supposed to be, you want it to be some picture perfect family but this is my version of the perfect family, heaven edition.

I have so much more to learn and to give up to Jesus. Jesus, take me and make me more and more like you.

What would your life look like if you actually took Jesus for Lord of your life and took him for his every word?
