This Summer

This Summer

So what am I doing this summer you ask?

Yes, this is the time everyone asks, and I ask every one, and I don’t remember a single thing unless I’ve asked them a gajillion times. rofl

1) Internship with UYAI

It’s a Christian Non-Profit in the Bronx. I’ll be working Mon-Thurs there. I’ll be doing two types of things. I’ll be spending two days a week doing some health education related projects and I’ll be spending the other two days in the week on the Christian High School Ministry they take care of. It’s the same high school Christian fellowship ministry I was a part of in high school, so I’m pretty excited to be able to help out there.

2) Trying to find some rich white kids to tutor – my source of moolahhhh hopefully

Yea, I really need a source of income. I’m pretty sure I spent almost every penny or more of the money that I made here at Cornell. Not a good sign, I’m back to 0 or in debt actually…haha. Too bad helping the poor doesn’t actually pay in cash XD

3) Spending a lot of time with the family.

This will be my first full summer in the states! Ridiculous isn’t it? haha. I won’t really be going anywhere at all. I’ll be spending a lot of time with the family, hopefully being a good witness to them and loving them more. Please pray for me to really be able to love them with Christ’s love. I’m honestly not as good as I am with my family than I am with my friends. Hopefully I’ll be able to go visit my mom and my sister more often this summer on the weekends to try to make up for all the times I haven’t been able to see her over these two years. I miss them a lot. Wish I had a car so the travel would be so much easier. The time I spend traveling is ridiculous.

4) Helping with my dad’s company

I honestly don’t know what he wants me to do. My dad said he wants me to know the ins and outs of the place but I don’t really get to spend enough time there to get a sense of it. So he wants me to basically spend all my free time in the office. Unless he actually makes this productive, I’m going to go crazy. I’m pretty sure he wants me to take over the company some time down the line. He should have just told me to go into business at Cornell. Lol. Yea, pray for me to know what to do with all this. I’m not exactly too excited about this. Everytime I go there I just either sit around or do something useless.

5) Focusing on God – though this is last in the list, it’s my first priority

I hope to really get into a good habit of waking up early to be able to spend a solid hour in my devotional time reading and praying. I really hope to get through most of the new testament this summer.

6) Read a butt load of books

Finish books I started:

Passion and Purity – Elisabeth Elliot

Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret – Howard and Geraldine Taylor

Campus Renewal – Justin Christopher

Generous Justice – Tim Keller

Books to start on:

Slave – John MacArthur

Spiritual Leadership – J. Oswald Sanders

A Million Ways to Die – Rick James

Revival and Revivalism – Iain H. Murray

The UYAI internship sounds awesome. Exactly the kind of thing I’d love to do in New York City. I’d love to hear more about it later. 🙂
